KINTO Additional Drivers

You can now share the digital key for your KINTO booking with up to 2 other approved KINTO members at any one time. There is no cost to add additional drivers.

Additional drivers:

Can

• Start a booking
• Lock/unlock the car
• Start the car

Cannot

• Extend a booking
• End a booking
• Pay for a booking

Only the booking owner can extend or end a booking. The booking owner is responsible for all booking fees and other charges incurred during the booking by any authorised driver.

How to add additional drivers

Additional drivers can be added in the KINTO app from 2 different locations, depending on where you are in your booking. From the ‘Add Extras’ screen while making a booking

Or once a booking is made, from the Current & Upcoming booking screen, by selecting Manage Booking, then Manage additional drivers.

Enter the driver’s KINTO account email or mobile number and they will be sent an invite. You can view the status of additional driver invitations in the Manage Additional Drivers screen. Additional drivers can only be added if they are approved KINTO members.

How to accept being an additional driver

The additional driver will receive an invitation in their KINTO app. Once they’ve accepted the invite, they will have access to the booking. If the additional driver is already in a KINTO booking, they will not be able to accept the invite until their current booking ends.

How to remove additional drivers

Additional drivers can be removed from your booking any time under Manage Booking in your KINTO app. Additional drivers can also remove themselves in their own KINTO app. Up to 2 additional drivers can be added to a booking at any one time, but additional drivers can be removed and others added in their place.

Additional Driver FAQs

Is there any fee for having additional drivers on my booking?

There is no charge for having additional drivers on your KINTO booking.

How many additional drivers can I have?

You can have a maximum of two additional drivers on your KINTO booking at any one time. You can change your additional drivers anytime by removing the existing, then adding others.

What will happen if I send an invite to a someone has applied for KINTO membership but not yet been approved?

They will not receive the invitation. You will need to re-send after they are an approved KINTO member.

Can I share booking costs with additional drivers?

The booking owner is responsible for all booking fees and additional charges, including tolls. Costs cannot be shared with additional drivers.

Can I have my own KINTO booking plus be an additional driver on another booking?

A KINTO member can only have one booking in their app at any one time. So an additional driver will need to leave the booking before they can start their own booking for the same period.

Are additional drivers covered by insurance?

Additional drivers are covered by KINTO insurance. In the event of an accident, the insurance excess payable will be based on the age of the driver when the accident occurred, whether an additional driver or the booking owner.

What happens if an additional driver gets an infringement?

Any infringements received during a booking will be assigned to the booking owner. The booking owner is responsible for re-assigning the infringement to an additional driver if applicable.

If I am with one of the additional drivers who have accepted my invite, can we easily swap between phones if we're taking it in turns driving, for example?

Yes, you can. To make this seamless, the last driver just needs to click the "Disconnect from vehicle" link displayed under the Lock/Unlock buttons in the Current Journey screen in the app. Note: the driver may need to click "Connect to vehicle" first, in order to see this displayed.
