Visit Emu Park

Want to explore the surrounding areas? If so, a 40-minute drive will get you to Emu Park, a coastal town located on the Capricorn Coast. This is a perfect day trip location as there are plenty of sights to visit and things to do in Emu Park. From beachcombing along the main beach and having a swim in the clear waters, strolling along one of the many walking paths and visiting the infamous Singing Ship Monument. Learn about the area at the Emu Park Historical Museum or see some scaly reptiles at Koorana Crocodile Farm. Emu Park has something for everyone.

Explore the Capricorn Caves

If you’re searching for a different type of adventure, consider taking a tour through the Capricorn Caves. The Cave system is about 400 million years old and home to some endangered species and other native wildlife. The Capricorn Caves are set on 80 acres of land where you can explore the caves in a guided tour and even stay within self-contained cabins on site for a night away. Mount Archer National Park

Kershaw Gardens

The gardens stretches across a kilometre right in the heart of town, meaning there is plenty of space to spread out and let the kids and pets run free. The Parklands are split into three precincts with open spaces and paths to stroll through and see what is around. Don’t forget to stop by the beautiful waterfall, which has a viewing deck so you can see it up close. And for the kids, there is a massive playground fully equipped with climbing ropes, tunnels, slides, swings and much more and not to mention there is the Fitzroy River water play area to cool off in, the monorail and the flying fox to play on too.

Rockhampton Heritage Village

If you’re visiting the area, the Rockhampton Heritage Village is a great location to explore with the family. Step back in time and experience the Rockhampton District from 1850 - 1950. See some of the original buildings, old cars, cottages, shops, and horse-drawn vehicles. This slice of history showcases life before electricity and is an excellent spot to learn about the town and life there during past times. See a vintage print press in action, learn about the Blacksmith trade, and you can even ride on multiple different vehicles like a double-decker bus and a horse-drawn carriage.
