Ever wondered what it's like to be inside a painting? THE LUME exhibitions make that possible. Displayed across a vast room is a multimedia experience that brings paintings to life. The experience runs for approximately 50 minutes, where you can pick a spot, sit back within the projections, and watch the stories unfold. THE LUME offers an immersive experience for the senses where visitors can feel like they're inside the art. The exhibition runs for a period of time before changing artists. Previous displays have been centred around Van Gogh, Monet and Friends and Connection, a show of First Peoples Art. Along with the display is a dining experience within the exhibition, providing another element to the immersive experience. If you're looking for something more, yoga classes are available so you can melt your stress away while enjoying the multimedia exhibition.
Stroll Down Southbank Promenade
Wander down the Southbank Promenade along the Yarra River, where you will find restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Visit the Royal Botanic Gardens
A short distance from Southbank is the Royal Botanic Gardens, a treasured icon of Melbourne. The gardens expand over a huge 38 hectares of land and house approximately 8,000 species of plants. There are 31 collections of plants to see within the garden spaces. While all the individual gardens are gorgeous and a wonder to sit in and relax within nature, there are a few spots worth highlighting. These include the tropical glasshouse for its magnificent collection, Fern Gully as a tranquil spot worth strolling through and the Arid Gardens for its striking display of cacti. While in the gardens, it's worth sitting by the ponds and watching the punting tours go by, and of course, if you have time, jumping in one yourself.
