Take a Walk in The Tumut Wetlands
Tumut has no shortage of stunning parklands to explore. One such is The Tumut Wetlands, nestled right in the heart of town. This beautiful wetland area is a nature oasis close to home, featuring amazing bird-watching opportunities and plenty of parkland to wander through. There are approximately 20 hectares of pretty lagoons, red gum forest and, of course, the Tumut River, which meanders along the east of the wetlands. Come to the wetlands ready to immerse yourself in nature, bring binoculars and take time to spot some of the 70 plus species of birds that call this reserve home. If you're lucky, you may see species like the Spotless Crake, the Royal Spoonbill, the Rufous Night Heron, and so much more. The Tumult Wetlands is a fantastic place to spend time outside and bring the whole family together.
Catch a Show at The Montreal Community Theatre
Have you been to The Montreal Community Theatre? The Montreal is a community-run theatre and a jewel of the town. The theatre was built in 1929 by J J Learmont, who fashioned it after theatres of the time located in Sydney. Today, visitors can come to the theatre not only to see live performances but also to watch movies. Spend the afternoon at the theatre to see one of the latest flicks at the cinemas; The Montreal shows movies of all genres, including comedies and family-friendly options, too. There are also live performances, so be sure to check out what's on at the theatre so you don't miss out. Go for a Bike Ride
Do you love mountain biking? If so, grab your bike and get out on the trails around Tumut. There are many tracks to choose from, each offering perfect mountain biking terrain. However, visit Tumut Mountain Bike Park for a dedicated parkland to cruise through. The park is located within the Tumut State Forest, a beautiful setting where bikers can gather some serious speed zipping through the bushland. There are 4 trails in the park to challenge yourself, with paths suited to all riders, from beginners to advanced riders. Feel the wind whip against your face as you race down the tracks, twisting and turning to follow it. You'll enjoy riding through lush forest landscapes and glimpse sensational views along the kilometres of trails winding through the park. This is a must-do on your next trip to the Tumut area.

The drive to the lookout takes about 35 minutes, winding through lush forest and rugged terrain, but once there, you'll be rewarded with incredible views of pristine wilderness. The lookout is easily accessible from the car park and is wheelchair accessible, so everyone can appreciate this slice of dazzling nature. As you step onto the platform, you'll be greeted with breathtaking panoramic views that display the grandeur of the surrounding mountain peaks and valleys and stretch as far as the eyes can see.
